What The iTero Scanner Does
You may be asking yourself, what is the iTero Scanner? iTero Scanner’s are a machine that allows our office to take digital impressions of your mouth as opposed to the old goopy impressions. A dental assistant uses the iTero wand by gently sliding across your teeth. Creating a digital impression of your mouth and teeth in a matter of minutes. There won’t be any of the impression material sliding down your throat or sticking to your lips.
All About You Dental Care uses the iTero Scanners for a variety of dental procedures. Invisalign treatment is completely done utilizing the iTero Scanner. Want to get a dental crown? We can take that impression with the scanner.  Need orthodontic retainers, sleep or sports guard? Dental lab technicians create dental appliances quickly from the digital impression obtained by a staff member using the iTero Scanner.
Why We Chose It
Another great patient tool that we use our scanner for is measuring a patient’s bone/ tissue levels and changes to existing dental restorations over time. On routine teeth cleaning appointments we can scan a patient to document their bone / gum level and existing restorations. Once per year we will re-scan the patient to see if there have been any changes. iTero Scanner keeps a chronological record of all of the scans and layers them on top of one another to be able to clearly see any changes in the patient’s dental anatomy. This allows our dental professional to clearly demonstrate to our patients any oral changes over time.
When time is of the essence for a patient them a digital impression is also the way to go. Our dental assistants transmits the iTero scan electronically allowing the lab to receive the impression within minutes. Prior to using a digital scanner, all impressions had to be shipped. Shipping the impressions adds extra time delays. Patients receive their dental appliances in days as opposed to weeks.
